A celebrated fixture of the Queensland art scene, Kylie is a professional artist and educator with over 25 years of experience translating the spirit of Brisbane onto canvas. She creates high-energy cityscapes and aerial perspectives that challenge the viewer’s point of reference.

Her work is defined by a bold, “Naïve-meets-mature” style, utilizing layered acrylics and mixed media to create rich textures and vibrant depths. Whether capturing the iconic Story Bridge or a quiet rural landscape, Kylie’s art serves as a visual journey that invites viewers to rediscover the familiar through a quirky, colourful, and deeply personal lens.

“Visit my studio on the mountain for a relaxed and inspiring art experience. I offer private painting lessons for adults and children, group workshops (including my popular Paint & Sip sessions), and studio visits where you can view and purchase original artwork. Come and create with me!”

The Experience

Look at the world through the eyes of an artist:

To look at a canvas by Kylie is to see Brisbane not just as a map of streets, but as a pulsating, living energy. With a palette that favors bold, pure colour over strict realism, she invites you to see the city from the heights of a Riparian view or the sweeping curves of the Story Bridge. Her work is a visual journey—sometimes “Naïve” in its charm but always mature in its execution—using layered acrylics and rich textures to challenge your point of reference. By blending her professional mastery with the thrill of an aerial photographer’s lens, Kylie captures the “never-ending energy” of the city, turning familiar landmarks into quirky, vibrant discoveries that feel both strangely new and deeply like home.

This “joy of seeing” is the heartbeat of Kylie’s twenty-year career, a passion she shares as both an internationally recognized artist and a dedicated educator. Whether she is featured on Colour in Your Life or mentoring students in her Mount Mee studio, her goal remains the same: to find the “peaceful, relaxing moments” within the urban rush. Her versatility—ranging from expansive cityscapes to intimate “Tiny Planets”—has placed her work in collections worldwide and raised over $50,000 for local charities. For Kylie, every brushstroke is an invitation for the viewer to find their own sense of ownership and connection within the landscape, celebrating the vibrant gift that is the Brisbane culture.

With her recent move to the Mountain, her paintings are now taking on the country charm of her new home town, the land, animals  and her new view on the world around her.

When you are next in the city,

Head to a rooftop bar, the top of a hill in Highgate Hill or Mt Coot-tha, or even a pedestrian bridge.

The Goal: Don’t look at the cars or the pavement. Look at the interlocking shapes of the rooftops, the way the river “snakes” through the buildings, and the “pulsating energy” of the movement below. Imagine the city is a living patchwork quilt rather than a collection of concrete blocks.

Kylie’s work is often described as having a “Naïve” quality—it’s playful and fun.

  • The Goal: Go for a walk through a cultural hub or a bikeway and look for the “hidden” character of the city. Look for the way a Queenslander cottage sits crookedly on a hill or the way a cafe spillover looks like a choreographed dance.

By looking down (for perspective), boldly (for color), and playfully (for character), you are seeing exactly what Kylie captures on her canvas.
